Gogo V: Sudden Shock! A New Warrior!
By JC

Introduction:

I was never really a big fan of Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue. It basically had no spark or drive to make it a remarkable series for me. Power Rangers that were... firemen.

GoGo V on the other hand has fast become one of my favorite Sentai, at least from the two movies I've seen with them in it. The stories I've seen are pretty focused on the dark side of the show and their battle against demons, rather than the bright sunshine side of them being Rescue Rangers like Lightspeed did. Blood, death, and revenge powered obsession bring us this latest jam I like to call....

GoGo V: Sudden Shock! A New Super Warrior!

Summary:

"The Shadow Sword is crying...." is how this latest installment opens up, as a new demon threat from space, Golmoa, continues his search for the most powerful weapon in the universe; the Shadow Sword's twin blade, the Dark Sword. The monster's quest leads him to a popular hot spot for all the cool monsters in the galaxy, Earth.

Tortured Demon Hunter, Jeek Tector the Last of the Demon Hunters, is hot on his heels though and has a thing or two to say about that! Driven by his lust for vengence and desire to destroy Golmoa for killing his team of Hunters, Jeek is willing to risk it all and destroy anything that gets in his path to exact his revenge...including, GoGo V!

Is Jeek friend or foe in the fight to stop Golmoa and the rest of the Saima Demons of Earth from retrieving the Dark Sword and plunging our world into darkness?? Only non-super friend of GoGo V, Kyoko, knows for sure...

My Opinion:

This is definitely one of my favorites so far. The performances given by Jeek alone are phenomenal, not to mention his pimped out, I-was-mean-for-my-own-show, Tokusatsu costume! He's sawwed off double barrel teched out shotgun, impressive sword, and gigantic cannon, all speak that this guy really should've had his own show. The guy even has his own slish-slash arm moves to transform!

Action is pretty hard hitting and copious. Blood dripps, and a character actually dies(gee, can ya guess who?) in this movie.

Special affects were also far above average in this movie and well use. No gratuitous usage, just alot at the right places to make you truely feel the final climactic big robot versus gi-normous super unstoppable monster.

Another thing that I felt made this movie great was that it wasn't a sprawling narrative trying to give two whole teams complete air time. Nope, this one focused on GoGo V and one other super tight super fighter, Jeek Tector.... oh, and non-super friend Kyoko who plays a pretty major role in the final out come.

Final Word:

If you buy it and pick it up you won't be disappointed. Action, monsters, robots, evil swords, and a revenge obsessed I-want-my-own-show! Jeek Tector himself! Excellent use of special effects and to date this is the deepest and most serious drama I've seen out of Sentai or Tokusatsu. My experience is kinda limited, but GGV:SS! ANSW is nothing to sneeze at.

That's my revenge filled JohnCrichton Opinion, and like Golmoa, "I'm not interested in how it feels to be a loser," either. ^_-
