Hit Song Collection
Nippon Columbia - 1987 (30CC-1829)
Kage
Introduction
A failed attempt to bring back Kikaider? Not sure if his
resemblance to Kikaider has anything to do with the show,
but I can't say it was all that successful. Metalder has
his run with Neros only in 1987, tallying only 39 episodes.
Sorry Metalder, guess you're just not interesting enough...
CD Review
So the show didn't last. Neither did JAKQ Dengekitai, but
that didn't stop it from having a great Song Collection.
Is Metalder any different? Nope. I enjoy this CD very much.
The music and the artist alike are all wonderful. This album
is also quite historical. I highly recommend finding youself
a copy if you don't have one already. I give this 4 Side
Phantoms out of 5.
01. Kimi no Seishun
wa, Kagayaiteiru ka?
>>Series Opening song. A very tragic style to it.
I personally love this song, but many others find it really
boring. This song really reflects the mood to the series.
Sad. There really is no other way to describe this song.
I'd also note that this is Issao Sasaki's last
known Tokusatsu song. Unless he decides to come out of retirement
and sing something new, this is it. All the more sadness
added to this song.
02. Shunten! Yume
no Senshi
>>Excellent way to get started! Action! This song
is very nicely executed. Has a great melody and really doesn't
get boring. Too soon to say this is the best of the insertion
songs? Let's continue...
03. Fighting Shoot
da! Metalder
>>Another great action
song. I really like the 'incoming music' effect at the beginning
of the song. I also love the piano parts throughout the
song. It really gives an urgent feel to the song. Like this
song were for a decisive battle. Great song!
04. Hoshi kara no
Tegumi
>>And here is the mid-CD cool-down song. Very dreamy
song. Nicely executed, but certainly not for the action
man who sits down to listen to this album. I'd like to note,
Horie Mitsuko and Ichirou Mizuki duet on this song. Not
only has it been a pretty long time since the Tokusatsu
world has heard from Horie Mitsuko, but a duet with Ichirou
Mizuki was also long overdue.
05. Isshun no Chance
>>This song starts off with a fairly dark tone and
really doesn't let go. Not an action song, yet not a slow
song. It's just there. This is a good song though, don't
get me wrong. It may cause boredum to the average listener
though.
06. Neros Teikoku
Yon Gundan
>>It's frightening when Koorogi '73 gets a song all
by themselves. They are pretty strange to say the least.
I'd like to say this song is in the right place on this
album, but i'm not sure it's even on the right album! That
doesn't stop me from enjoying this song though. Evil laughter
always wins me over in a song. Well, not all the time. This
song is definitely worth a listen to.
07. Voltage Up!
>>Another action song. This one is rather generic.
Has nothing unique or interesting to offer. Good to listen
to, but there are better songs out there.
08. Never Give up!
>>Oddly titled slow song. Goes to show, never judge
a book by it's title. In this case, a song. This song is
rather generic also. There are so many songs out there that
are just like this one. So this song might get the skip
if you're listening to the album. Me? I never skip tracks.
Disrespect to the artist. ^^;
09. Dash! Side Phantom
>>Action song! Always a wonderful way to end to Insertion
songs. This song stands out nicely with swings of change
throughout. Great stuff. This song is nicely placed and
executed. Is this album a success? Yes!
10. Time Limit
>>Series Ending song. I enjoy the urgency in this
song, matches the title nicely. I think it matches the ending
video nicely also. The video consists of Metalder running
around the city on his motorcycle and random footage from
the series. Excellent action song to boot!
An excellent way to end every episode.
