All Liveman Song Review
Kage

Introduction

A word from the reviewer: Coming to you in all it's 80's greatness! It's Liveman! A personal top favourite show. Sometimes it's my total favourite, sometimes it's second or third. In any case, here is the review for the Song Collection that defined action. P.S. I won't let my liking of the show get in my way of this review. Totally honest stuff.

Choju Sentai Liveman

CD Review: A true hit or miss CD. Lack of overall mood I think is it's main weak point, allthough this does cause a general match to the overall tone of the TV show. Then again, the series did have it's goofy moments. Really worth a listen, then you judge for yourself. But if you want my opinion, I really enjoy this CD. I give it 3.5 Bimotion Busters out of 5.

01. Choju Sentai Liveman

>>The opening song for the series...sung by Red Falcon himself! Daisuke Shima stepped behing the mic for this song, doing what only a handful of show actors have done in the past. Excellent action song, increbily good as an opening track! Never really has there been such a unique song featured during the opening credits. It really has it all! The horns, the guitars, the explosions, the actor! If you haven't heard it, I ought to pop you one with my Librastar!

02. Sasume! Live March

>>I really like how this song really has no mood throughout. Not upbeat really, kind of dark at the start. Very unique in how the song is motivational, yet with a shade of darkness. I really do love the singing. Great song if you're into oddities like me.

03. Knock! Nekkyo no Live

>>Action song. Best part about this song is the screaming of "Liveman!". For a series with very few *real* non-robot action songs, this one fills the gap nicely. Very strange half breath, half drum effect done throughout the song.

04. Utsukushiki Dreamer!

>>Another Daisuke Shima song! This song has a cheeriness to it that really doesn't let it qualify as a good action song. No worries though, this song is great to listen to I think. Though nothing in the song stands out...

05. Dash! Liverobo

>> Another dreary/action song. Again, turned out very nicely. No total mood, but it's hinted toward more urgency and darkness. Works great as a Robot theme to an extent. No paced correctly, so if this song was placed during a robot battle it'd sound pretty awkward. I just love the brief silence then...."Gattai!!".

06. Seigi wa Fumetsu sa

>> I have to hand it to...um, whoever thought of it. They did an awful thing! This song really is lame. I feel bad for the singer for having to sing it. I'd generally like a cheery song like this if it were more action based. Alot of songs from past Sentai shows have done this, but the overall lack of mood in this CD kinda left it hanging.

07. Spark! Umi e

>> Again with the lack of mood! Liveman is a very depressed type! This song really does have some greatness to it. I especially love the "Super Girl!" line. Very rock based song. Not much uplift to it as mentioned before. What an odd song for our resident "Super girl!".

08. Live Century~Oretachi no Shin Seikai

>>Well, the song constantly says "Big Fight!" but i'm not really feeling it. This is a good song. Again, lack of mood got it's better half. But, it does have a tiny bit of emotion thanks to the seldom horn parts. Definitely worth a listen.

09. Hop Step Jump!

>>I really have to find out why this CD is so...numb. This song is cheery. It's really only after you hear all of the songs before it that you can consider this cheery. Almost as if it were scaled by the rest of the album. I think it all lies in the bass. This song does get pretty funky at the end. Beware of the jungle beat! Also watch out for the "BeeBaa!" thing...

10. Ashita ni Ikiru ze!

>> No mood, but I don't care! This song is AMAZING to put it simply. I love everything about this song. So danceable, so groovy. Definitly something you'll find yourself singing along to once you get a grasp of the lyrics. Did I mention this is the series ending song? Also, did I mention it is sung again by Daisuke Shima? There is absolutely nothing wrong with this song what so ever. Definitely an album best!

11. Maken Kimanten! Liveman

>> Another "what were they thinking?". Finally a song with mood, too bad it's just really lame like this one. Well, I can trash this song until Bandai sends me a brand new "Twin Bless", but that'll never happen. I'll stop here.

12. Live Boxer no uta

>> I love the "waterdrop" effect at the beginning of the song. It just sounds like all hope is lost. Then the song explodes! Horns! Emotion! Really a classic among Sentai robot songs. There is even a return of the "Gattai!!" from the Liverobo song! Definitely tops what the Liverobo song had to offer. Allthough Live Boxer himself is pretty ugly. Excellent song though!
