Japan Hero Video Game Review

Chojin Sentai Jetman
By Jeffrey Couto

What is it About?

This is a good old fashioned platform game in which you take control of one of the members of Jetman as he/she tries to save Japan from another alien invasion.

How Good is it?

This games is not very good, but if your a huge fan of Jetman then you won't care how bad this fiasco is. You are given the choice of controlling anyone of the members of the team, but the only real difference between them is the weapon used by the character (which in turn only differ in that some are slightly more powerful than others). The character sprite are the same although the color changes according to the character you choose.

When you finish each stage you confront the area boss with Great Icarus in a non-descript dark area. These fights tend to be pretty simple since you only have around three moves and the monsters use the exact same attack pattern in each stage, which makes it a very predictable battle each time.

The graphics in this game are ok, but they will not blow you away (remember that this is in the old famicom system). Each character has around 5 frames of animation and the enemy sprites have around 2-3 each. The one place where the game's graphics excel is in the cinemas that play before each boss fight (you get to see Jet Icarus and Jet Garuda combine) and the animation that loops when the game is not running.

Not too much to say about the sound effects and background music, they're pretty average, although it is neat to hear the Jetman theme as played by the good old famicom system

My Opinion:

If you are a huge fan of Jetman (or sentai in general) you have to add this game to your collection! If you are looking for a fun game look elsewhere.
