Japan Hero Video Game Review

Carranger
Jeffrey Couto

What is it About?

This is a platform/action game in which you take control of one of the five members of Carranger.

How Good is it?

This games is really bad! I understand that this was created and marketed at children, but even for that audience this might be a little too repetitive and pointless. The goal of the game is to get a total of 250 gears so that the Carranger can form RV robo at the end of the game. There are five stages and a secret final stage in which our heroes use RV robo to defeat the bad guys (which happens during a short animated sequence).

The only difference between the 5 characters are that each one has one special move (like a double jump for pink racer) and that when the sword icon is used, each character will get their respective signature weapon from the show. The action in this game is limited to hitting bad guys and everything else in the stage in order to collect the gears you need to form RV robo, which really makes for boring gameplay.

The graphics are crisp and colorful, but otherwise dull when compared to everything else on the Super Famicom. The music and sound effects are also pretty average with nothing that really make them stand out.

My Opinion:

Even fans of Carranger should hesitate to hunt this one down, but if you really, really like the show then you might get a kick out of trying out this game.
