first. I have to get this out of my system: can't.. resist... X HENSHIN!! with that out of hte way, a quote from LBD Nytetrayn of the Megaman Network to explain things: QUOTE(LBD Nytetrayn) Note, I do NOT know for sure if this is just some clever hoax, or the real deal. It certainly seems legit, but the person who found it cited GamesAreFun.com as the source, but I've had no luck turning it up there. Maybe I just missed it?
So far, the name of it has been translated as "Rockman Zekusu," or "Zechs" in a more simplified Romanization("Rockman" pronounced as "Rokkuman" by the Japanese).
Translations from various sources have turned up the following tidbits:
1) There seem to be two main characters, a male and a female, by the names of Van and Ale/Elle, respectively.
2) They wear clothing made from a "live metal" that can absorb abilities.
3) The two can transform with the live metal that was excavated from ruins(a tie of some sort to Legends?).
4) Seems to be due out this Spring in Japan.
If you can translate and/or correct any of the information provided, please do so and I'll add it to our newspost at The Mega Man Network, along with a proper news credit(unless you wish to remain anonymous).
LBD "Nytetrayn" next, the screens: our heroes! Van: henshined: but! now there's another character! Elle: henshined: not much else to mention, but it's coming out for the Nintendo DS, and with a release so soon, I'd say we can expect US release in September/October as we've seen with the Zero series thus far [a Japanese Spring release, a US fall release during the same year] oh yes... and this seemed... interesting: EDIT: I just realized, the above image is likely "ZX Henshin" EDIT2: ah, just got this from a friend, the text in the Henshin pics says "X Henshin Sankou" and "ZX Henshin Sankou" Sankou meaning "reference" or "consultation" like the verb "to reference" or "to consult"

Technically, Capcom has connected Legends to the main timeline through the Rockman Perfect Memories sourcebook, saying something along the lines of
"Thousands of years after teh X series, the adventures of the Digouters take the stage!" or somesuch [it's been a while since I saw the translation]
wiki also says:
"According to the sourcebook, Rockman Perfect Memories, the Legends series takes place after the X series (or, more logically, the Zero series). Some have even speculated on such a connection based on comments in the X series; most notably the use of the word "Elysium" (with a capital E, indicating it is a proper noun) in one of the endings of Mega Man X5. Other examples include the frequently seen Reaverbot eye symbols that appear in Hyleg Ourobockle and Burble Hekelot's levels in Mega Man Zero 2 and Hanumachine's level in Mega Man Zero 3. Supposely the ending of Mega Man Zero 4 foreshadows events, most likely the cause of the flooded world that Legends takes place on."
another note is it's believed that the Power Source Ciel talks throughout 2 and 3 becomes the Refractors of Legends.
as for the designs, well, it's not technically "Zero" as the picture says "ZX Henshin Sankou," it would seem to me that Van is transforming there [note the presence of the X Henshin Sankou device and another by Van's hands]

SITE UP! http://www.capcom.co.jp/rockman_zx/PRESENT! MODEL Z! TRANSLATION! QUOTE In this game you begin by selecting from either the male character Van, or the first female protagonist of the Rockman series: Eile. There hidden powers are...?
Live Metals are mysterious pieces of metal excavated from places such as ancient ruins. There are various types of metals, and they contain recorded information concerning the history and armaments of bygone days. It's said that further knowledge and power can be recognized in the Live Metals according to one's own intentions. Van and Eile use the Live Metals to transform into the Model X form.
Another character of yet unknown identity is able to perform the Model Z transformation. What is the relation of Model X and Model Z? What is Rockman ZX?

Indeed, I've been craving a Zero anime since the second game's commercial in Japan... dear god those things just got better and better, I must have watched 3's 50 times. yep, and indeed, they should do that (maybe a triple with the Tron Bonne side game too) though at this rate looks like we're just stuck with hte PSP DASH re-releases. I also love what DASH stands for even more than the US Legends title. "Digouters Adventures in Halycon Days as for MMZ5... QUOTE(spoiler) Well... they sorta infer he might not have survived back to earh... though I'm doubtful of this, as his helmet survived relatively intact when technically, if the fall blows him to smithereens, it should darn well blow his helmet to 'em too, right?

Well.....not necessarily.... QUOTE Since this new series is looking to take place after the era of the RMZ series, and now we've got a new cast borrowing X and Zero's powers, I think it's safe to presume that Zero "died", at least in a sense. My theory? Zero probably just lost his physical body, and has been promoted to the same "Semi-omnipotent cyber-ethereal" Cyber Elf class that X is in. Now that they're both too powerful and studly to have bodies of their own, perhaps they decided that it may be better to just find capable humans/reploids to use their power instead. And I'm starting to think that these new dudes possibly being human is a very real possibilty... Any way, I'm looking forward to this new series; much more so than the PSP remakes. And just when I was about to lose all hope that we'll ever get a new Rockman, here this one comes. Also, since the EXE series is also going to be put on hiatus, might this series be the one that takes up the cause of being Capcom's newest liscensing whore? I mean seriously...if this game is looking to boast a lot in the way of customization, plus perhaps you can find more forms/characters to play as? This game is just begging to have a co-op and vs. modes of play. And I wouldn't be at all suprised if Capcom had it such that there were special Model forms you could only get in Japan at special promos....which would suck for the rest of us... Any way, this series does have potential....all I could really ask for is that this series to finally bring back Dr. Wily, and to have a much more lighter tone of story, all and all (in other words, more like the original series and DASH, less like X and Zero). As far as Wily is concerned, I think it's prime time he raises some hell on the Earth again, after suffering all of the posers like Sigma, Lumine, Copy X, Elpis, Omega, Weil, and so forth. We need the original Dr. W, complete with his complimentary "eye brow" thing, dammit!
--------------------
Awaiting the day that Bandai and Capcom can get together for a VS. Fighter, so we can have the likes of Rockman, Viewtiful Joe, and Bionic Commando meet the likes of the various Kamen Riders, Sentai Heroes, and etc.
Wouldn't that be a joy to see? ^_^

Don't...ever...speak of Sigma...AGAIN! HE was THE WORST villian of ALL the Megaman Universe. It was cool the first three time he came back, then he just became a pest...and utterly, annoying, conceited pest, who tried to play omnipotence at every turn...Just a potentialless character. Now Dr. REGAL (RM.EXE) and WILY (RM & RM.EXE) - THOSE two are true Megaman Villiany.

^ LOL! Now you see, I was actually hoping they were going to do more with Sigma than they actually did. If they had him adhere to the model of the "seperatist extremist with genocidal tendencies", like they did in X1, I could have seen him become basically "Rockman's answer to Xmen's Magneto". It could have been interesting to basically have the same things that occurred in Xmen to make for great stories to be revived in the Rockman series. Then there was also the supposed "Wily allusions" that came about in a lot of the games, and not just X4 and X5, mind you! In the Japanese version of X1, Sigma, in the throes of death, said something along the lines of "The age of repliroids is coming! HE said it was!" Then continuing on to X2, both the English and Japanese versions of the script pointed to the little quirky thing that Sigma may be hiding, but both basically alluded to the same thing...Zero was the bonafide last creation of the "good" Doctor. Then of course X4 and X5 had their little things. I was really hoping by X6, Sigma and Dr. Wily would just come out in style, admit that they were working together this whole time, and then would take to trying to kill X and Zero personally. That, and perhaps that Wily would just screw Sigma over, saying that Sigma had served his purpose, and that it was time to show "how it was done!", cue Wily's eyebrow thingie as he jumps into another series of disappearing, multi-form vehicles, and an awesome boss fight, before the side of good prevails and Wily flees for another day. ...But they didn't do that. Instead they just went and made Sigma some sort of megalomaniacal schmuck with sometimes delusions of grandeur that went all over the place, from possessing X's body, to trying to make Zero an Irregular, making him an Internet n00b in X6, and everything else in between... So, I mourn for the loss of what could have been a great villain. Ah well... But I still stand by my claim. ZX is the perfect time to bring back Dr. Wily, if it is meant to be!

Well...not quite...according to the Rockman Zero games... QUOTE Sigma is destined to meet his final come-uppance, once and for all, prior to the "Elf Wars" (which has yet to be made into a game as of yet). Supposedly, the Mother Elf herself did the final act by deleting all traces of his data as a virus but good! As of yet, there has been no signs that the story of the Elf Wars (in which Wiel makes his first appearance), or the story of Sigma's last stand, will ever be told. And who knows when that will actually happen, considering that the majority of Inafune's energy is going to those PSP remakes...?! Ah, but I digress. Again, looking forward to either a new bad-ass villain, or perhaps Dr. Wily's triumphant return.
