yeah i've been wanting to see how a new gen metal hero would look like, but some new gen riders already look like one......for me a new gen metal hero can possibly be the best eye candy that i've seen for years....

That's because they are metal heroes, Toei just doesn't call them that. They pretend their Kamen Rider because it sells better. A guy in armor is by definition a metal hero. A Kamen Rider is a kaizo ningen not a normal human being.

It is something very interesting. Once they dropped the Kamen Rider title and directly used a new title for metal heroes, the rating and popularity dropped sharply even though their input in the shows were very substantial. Metal hero shows like Dimensional warrior Spielban, B-fighter Kabuto are very expensive to produce yet the end result was disastrous. Actually, I think Windspector and Solbrain are excellent series in terms of the basic ideas and plts. Nonetheless, the audience just do not like any metal heroes unless they packaged as something else like Kamen Rider.

thats one of the reasons why i put up that "why not consider kamen riders are metal heroes" thread months ago....i never really hate the new gen look, i actually like it and some of the new stuff created....but i think the whole "look" thingy already bridged some of the gaps(or should i say things that separated the two genres) of kr and metal hero genres.....

well Amazon wasn't a Kaizou Ningen and neither was Riderman. Though the majority of Old Gen Riders were...but still, you forgot about those two Riders. YES Riderman is a RIDER since V3 called him Kamen Rider Yogou (Number 4).

Also maybe TOEI is trying to save money and hit two birds with one stone, by giving Kamen Rider a Metal Hero look. Personaly I don't mind it either. Though it would be nice to revist the Kaizou Ningen...I wouldn't hold my breath if it were to happen anytime soon.

At least this is where Fanfictions come in. If you don't like reading them, oh well, that's your decision...but until Toei decides to return to the Kaizou Ningen for a bit, that's all we have.

Actually Amazon was a Kaizou Ningen (altered human) and so was Riderman to a point (being his right arm). Kuuga was also an altered human and you could even argue Agito and Gills were as well. Still I don't think being a kaizou ningen alone is a nessecity for a super hero to be called "Kamen Rider." It's a whole combination of things, which for me includes the insect motif and the motorcyle. Not that it wouldn't be great to see another classic themed Rider.

for me riderman isn't really a kaizo ningen...i don't take the term "kaizo ningen" in a literal way, well he is an altered human in a literal way but not technically....he's quite the same with those people with prosthetic arms or legs but of course those people just don't have any drills or ropes or nets in their arms....altered human?yes but he's not enough for me to be considered "kaizo ningen" in a rider-ish way.....

Amazon was changed by magic rather than technology but he was still changed.
Riderman has somehow become more powerful over the years.
Kuuga is changed from the inside out by the belt which burried itself inside his body.

The classic series have established that the primary characteristic of a Kamen Rider is being a kaizo ningen, second is riding a motorcycle.

I think the new costumes are ugly. And if I want a metal hero I'll watch Gavan or more likely Metalder.

agree with you on that riderman account, riderman seemed to become more powerful over the years especially on the spirits manga...i'm not liking it though, it kinda makes him too strong because almost everything came popping out of that arm, from machine guns to sprayers....IMO it takes out the essence of how riderman should be and how riderman used to be...

if you come to think of it, newer fans might view riderman in a way that he can have any type of arm that he wishes...that's not good, kinda makes the other riders seem to look weaker compared to riderman....he should be less powerful than the others but more tricky and cunning like it used to be, IMO.....

as far as metal heroes are concerned, the 80s metal heroes IMO are way much better than the 90s metal heroes....if they're going to make a new one today(officially), i guess they should refer more to the 80s formula rather than the 90s.....
