Other Information:
Oshima has an 8th Degree Black Belt in Judo and
won the Japan National Championships at the age of 16. She is
also an accomplished gymnast.
Her physical conditioning allowed her greater
than 180-degree leg extensions, resulting in eye-popping high
kicks. Oshima’s roundhouse kick can actually extend to
the head or neck.
Was a member of Sonny Chiba’s stunt school
JAC (Japan Action Club).
Japanese Action Star and frequent Hong Kong Movie
bad guy, Kurata Yasuaki – an acquaintance of Oshima’s
sifu – was reportedly instrumental in getting her a part
in Sammo Hung’s “Millionaire’s Express”
(1986).
After breaking into the HK film industry, Oshima’s
career took off with her performance in “Angel”
(1987), to be followed by several good action roles in “Angel’s
Mission” (1989); “Close Escape” (1989), and
“Brave Young Girls” (1990).
Some of her best roles were under the direction
of Frankie Chan (“Burning Ambition” [1989] and “The
Outlaw Brothers” [1990]. While Oshima was usually pegged
to play the villain in such projects as “Dreaming the
Reality” (1991) and “Project S” (1991); she
occasionally go to play the heroin in some movies including
“Hard To Kill” (1992), “Angel Terminators
II,” (1993) and “Avenging Quartet” (1993).
Oshima’s other credits included running
a talent agency that reportedly launched the movie career of
British action actress Sophia Crawford. Oshima also acted as
producer for a number of films, including “1/3 Lover”
(1993) in which she also had a cameo role.
With changes in the industry, Oshima relocated
to The Philippines where she appeared in a number of works for
Phillip Ko, before returning to make more films in China and
Hong Kong.
Her last noteworthy appearance was in the “It
Takes a Thief” (1999). Oshima continues to occasionally
appear in films produced in the Philippines.
Oshima is reported to have been previously married
to Mark Cheng and later Ho-Nam. She is currently married to
director Phillip Ko.
